Rare Jewels Up for Auction at Christie’s Magnificent Jewel Sale

Christie’s New York is hosting its Magnificent Jewel sale on December 10, and this year, a trio of truly magnificent gemstones will be up for auction. In keeping with the Christmas spirit, a red diamond, a green emerald ring, and a D-color diamond ring will be auctioned among the 300 lots being offered at the auction.

The Colombian emerald ring features an 8.51 carat, cushion-cut stone in the center, flanked by matching 4.04 and 3.94 carat emeralds on either side. This beautiful ring is estimated to have a value between $475,000 and $550,000.

The circular-cut, fancy reddish-orange diamond is 3.15 carats and holds the distinction of being the largest such diamond ever to be graded by the Gemological Institute of America. Both the intensity of the diamond’s color and its large size make it an extremely rare gemstone, and it is estimated to be worth between $700,000 and $1.2 million.

The real star of the auction, however, is a 50.01 carat, rectangular-cut, D-color diamond ring by Graff. D-colored diamonds are the most exceptionally white and colorless stones available, and this particularly large one is flanked on either side by baguette-cut diamonds. The most expensive item being offered at the auction, the ring has an estimated worth between $7 million and $10 million.

In addition to these three rare and expensive gemstones, the day-long auction at Christie’s in Rockefeller Center will feature numerous large diamonds with estimates ranging from $500 to several million dollars.
